The 2nd Ikebana Zoom meeting was a success. I had participants from Michigan, Massachusetts, Florida, Idaho, Arkansas, and California, as well as Australia, Germany, Thailand, and Japan, so it was literally a global meeting. It started with conversations about where they lived, and it was a great opportunity to catch up each other. I found some who I had thought living in France but now in the U.S., or some who had moved to Florida from Michigan. The one common thing among all participants was that they had been in my class in Japan before. They might have not known each other because of the different period of stay in Japan until this opportunity, but now all are friends.
The theme of the presentation this time was "Water Lilies and Lotuses". I got many photos of the flowers that were taken by my friends, and they made my presentation beautiful. Thanks to them very much. I learned from people in the West that Lotus seems to be a plant found only in Asia. I'd like to look into this later. I could tell by the questions and the smiles on the faces in the screen that they were very pleased with the event. The exhaustion that I had for preparing was just blown away that instant.
To those who participated, I am most grateful that I had the opportunity to share a happy time with you all. I hope we can continue this event every three months in the future. Please let me know your thoughts and comments if you have. And don't forget to send me your works with plants in your surroundings. I'll be always happy to hear from you.
To those who could not attend this time for some reason, I’ll look forward to seeing you at the next occasion.
See you all in December. Until then, take care and stay safe.
